the book argued that Kant tried to execute not one but two programs for constructing transcendental logic. This fact appears never to have been clearly recognized by Kant himself. That he never resolutely separated his "twin programs" from each other is the principal source for the unwieldy complexity and the systematic ambiguity of the Critique.
